Through artist residencies during the school year, AWE brings creative experiences to children who might not ever have this opportunity. Residencies can last from two weeks up to an entire semester. A sample contract can be viewed to give you an idea of what is involved in an AWE residency. Typically, an artist receives $2,000 for forty hours at the hosting school, 80% of which are direct contact hours with the students. Upon completion of the project, a celebration is held to recognize the creativity, effort and achievement of the students, the artist and school faculty.
