More about Dena:
Dena Nord blends design thinking with an organic process to create vivid abstract paintings that offer visual playgrounds for the eye. Born and raised outside of Chicago, IL, she received her BFA from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee in 2009, focusing on both design and painting. Her work has been exhibited at the Augmented World Expo in Santa Clara, California, the Milwaukee Art Museum, Rochester Museum of Fine Arts, Gallerie M, Redline Gallery in Milwaukee, and various other galleries throughout her career.
As a founding partner and creative director at Odvant Creative, Dena works on branding and visual identity projects for nonprofits throughout Wisconsin that are making impacts in communities in need. While her professional design work requires thoughtful intentionality, her artistic practice serves as a creative counterbalance—a space for intuitive play and organic response. Dena currently lives and works in Milwaukee, WI, where she continues to balance her roles as both artist and designer.

The series is an opportunity for local emerging artists and creatives to hear from established local artists and creatives about the whys and whats of their professional practice as well as how they grew their practices.
Artist talk and discussion will be one hour of a two hour session, with additional time following the discussion for networking among artists and creatives and an opportunity to co-create a group art project at AWE's studio.
